Hi! My name is Mrs. Scalici. This is my fifteenth year of teaching. I have taught Kindergarten, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, and 4th grade. Harwood is the third school I have taught at...I love it here at Harwood! I am so blessed to be part of such a fantastic team. The students, parents, and staff at Harwood are absolutely wonderful, which makes teaching here so enjoyable! Go Hawks!
My husband, Scott, and I have been married 13 years. We met while attending college at Central Michigan University and have been together ever since. Our children keep us very busy, but are so much fun! They are the loves of our lives. our daughter is in 4th grade and our son is in 2nd grade. They are both very involved with sports, which is so fun to watch! We also have a golden retriever named Luna. Scott is also a teacher. He teaches Spanish and gym.. Since we are both teachers, we are always helping one another.
As for my educational background, I started out at Michigan State University, but soon transferred to Central Michigan University to pursue a teaching degree. I graduated from Central Michigan University with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education. I have also earned my Masters Degree from CMU. Go Chips!!!
Some things I enjoy doing, besides teaching of course, are traveling, shopping, camping, playing sports, attending sporting events, and especially spending time with my family. Since we are so busy all of the time, I enjoy days where we just hang out and do nothing but enjoy one another's company. Those are the best kind of days!
I feel that caring for and respecting one another is an important factor in a classroom. I want students to develop empathy and become valuable contributors to society. I expect ALL of my students to be KIND TO OTHERS and will expect nothing less. I want my classroom to be a place where students feel safe, happy, and confident. I want my students to be comfortable enough to take risks and learn to cooperatively work together. I am very grateful to be a part of your children's lives and will do my very best to make them realize they are all capable of greatness.
